Easiest Way to Wash an RV

Written by Brenda-Lee Thompson

In my opinion, the easiest way to wash an RV is to have someone else do it! But that's not always practical.  We RVers are always looking for ways to keep our RV cleaner.

This pursuit can be complicated by the fact that many RV parks and resorts do not permit traditional water washing of RVs while on their property.

They all have their reasons -- keeping sites from becoming muddy messes, keeping control of the water bills, avoiding wasting water especially in dry seasons.

This leaves a few options for cleaning an RV:

  • Before 'landing' at your destination, take your unit to a dealership for an RV wash and wax detail. Places like Camping World also offer this service;
  • Go to a car wash that can accommodate the size of your RV and do it yourself;
  • If you are at the park where you'll be staying, ask the park for an approved list of RV wash and wax mobile services that can come to you; or
  • Use a waterless wash and wax product to keep your unit mirror clean.

 A word about waterless washing.   Although a somewhat new concept in the RV world, waterless washing has been around in the aviation industry for decades.  It's definitely something to consider...even for you die hard water washers!  The key for having a waterless program work well for the RV is to follow the instructions exactly.  Cleaning an RV is always a chore, but the right waterless system will help you to keep your RV cleaner.
