Your RV and tow vehicle tires may be new, but has the date expired before you bought them? What you are not told about your tires could kill you!
All vehicle tires, whether for RV or tow vehicles, have a specific lifespan and expiry date stamped on them. Often this stamp is on the surface of the tire which, when installed, faces under the vehicle. Your new tires may be too old to be safe. Tires have a 6 year lifespan even if never used and brand new. Even new tires sitting on the shelf of the tire dealer may be too old to be safe.
RVers are particularly aware of the problem of cracking on RV tires. Tire covers should be used whenever your RV is parked to minimize the premature cracking of tires.
The following ABC News video expose' reveals the dangers of driving with expired tires, and how to check your expiry dates.
