Travel Log 26: March 2011 -- Gone Fishin'

| Print |
Written by Brenda-Lee Thompson

Adrian and his various fishing buddies have been out every Wednesday as well as the

occasional extra excursion.
Adrian's Dorado Catch 35 lbs -- Marty (still reeling in), Adrian and Captain Antonio

The fishing has been incredible this year.

While not a lot of prize-size trophy fish have been around due to the colder than normal

winter temperatures, the season has still been sensational.

Just last week alone the boys caught 22 fish!

Pictured to the right is Adrian's catch of a 35 lb Dorado, also known as Mahi Mahi.

Adrian's Wahoo Catch 40 lbs. -- Adrian and Captain Antonio

Recently there was a lot of excitement when Adrian caught a Wahoo (pictured left).

The Wahoo put up quite a fight as it kept

taking Adrian around and around the boat.

Captain Antonio was chattering excitedly in Spanish while scrambling around

like a spider on

the boat trying to help Adrian keep track of the Wahoo's location.

This is a coveted fish for eating and not often caught.

We've been told that when the Mexican fellows on the dock fillet a Wahoo for the fisherman

who caught it, they will sneakily leave a lot of meat next to the bone for themselves.

So...we had a "Woohoo for Wahoo" fry with the gang to celebrate. The fish was simply

sauteed with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper. It was every bit as delicious as the legends we've heard.Richie's Catch - Hammerhead Shark -- Adrian and Captain Antonio

While our friend, Richie, was here visiting from Penticton, he got in on a fishing day and caught a Hammerhead shark.

We didn't want to keep it for eating, but the fishing captain, Antonio gladly accepted the donation!
