We have been in Las Vegas since October 10, 2008. Our first month on the road has been a busy one and a great one!
When we arrived in Vegas, we had been on a mission to outrun the snow and cold weather that was on our heels. When we arrived at our RV resort at 3:30 pm on October 10, we nearly trampled over each other to get in the door and get changed into shorts and t-shirts!
We’ve spent some time sightseeing on the “strip” in Vegas. We’ve enjoyed viewing some of the crazy hotels here and conversely, we have enjoyed some desert sightseeing as well. On October 13 (Adrian’s birthday) we visited the Hoover Dam, which straddles the border of Nevada and Arizona. The weather has been warm and perfect for some lazy afternoons around the pool at our resort.
Adrian’s cousins, Kim and Syd, live here and we have spent a lot of time with them, enjoying meals at their home and also seeing some of the sights together.
October 31, 2008 was a significant day for us. Apart from it being Halloween, which we tend to avoid at all costs anyway, it marked two years to the day since we made our decision to sell our businesses and make tracks south. Wow…two years! In some ways it has gone quickly, and in others it has been painstakingly slow! But here we are!
My cousin, Parry, arrived in Vegas on November 4 for a trade show. He lives in Kelowna and we had done a lot of Rving with him and his son, Zach, during the summer. It was so great to see another familiar face. We bashed around Vegas for the 4 days while he was here and had tons of fun!
So that puts us here, November 9, preparing to continue on south. The weather is getting cooler. Instead of our mid-80’s, we having high-60’s to mid-70’s. That’s our cue.
Get out your Atlas. We are leaving Vegas tomorrow and heading south for Lake Havasu City, AZ. From there we will travel into Arizona wherever the road takes us.
